Woolly Clothing Review | Merino Wool & Plastic Free Apparel

Here's my honest review of Woolly Clothing Co as someone that's been wearing their clothing for years now. They have a huge selection high quality athletic, travel, and casual merino wool apparel for both men and women. This blog post contains affiliate links.

Woolly Clothing Co is a small business that offers premium quality merino wool clothing at a lower price than many other brands. Their mission is to provide apparel that is comfortable, sustainable, and plastic free.

My Experience With Woolly Clothing

As someone that enjoys hiking, camping, and traveling, I've come to really love wearing merino wool. Woolly Clothing has become my "go to" brand for merino wool apparel because of it's high quality and affordable pricing.

I first discovered Woolly about two years ago as I was embarking on a journey to live a more "low tox" lifestyle. I decided to gradually shift my wardrobe to include more natural fabrics such as wool, cotton, and linen.

The first items I ordered from Woolly were merino wool underwear and a tank top. They quickly became my favorite workout clothes, and in time I've collected more of their apparel. Not only are their clothes soft and comfy, but they're durable too. I've found Woolly clothing to hold up very well after many washes.

For example, I've probably washed my purple crop tank almost one hundred times over the last two years and it's still in great condition. I'm aware that most people advise against putting merino wool in the dryer, but I often do this with Woolly clothes and have not encountered shrinking or loss of quality.

Many people assume wool is meant to be worn just in cold temperatures—as it's so good at keeping us warm! But the reality is, merino wool is temperature regulating. This means that when it's hot, merino wool can actually help keep you cool (in addition to keeping you warm in the cold)! That's what makes it perfect for athletic apparel.

I love wearing the light weight merino clothing in the summer, as it's moisture wicking and helps cool me down in intense heat.

I've worn Woolly clothing hiking, climbing, traveling internationally, and more. I find merino wool to be much more comfortable than most types of wool (this is due to it's fine fibers). It's quite soft and becomes even softer after washing a few times.

Some of my favorite Woolly items include:

  • Hipster & bikini brief underwear

  • Tank & crop tanks

  • V-neck t-shirts

  • Biker shorts (these aren't too sheer)

  • Long-haul weekender pants

  • Joggers

If you're looking for top quality merino wool clothing for women or men, I'd recommend checking out Woolly Clothing. They make returns and exchanges very easy, so there's little risk to giving their clothes a try.

On the left I'm wearing a crop tank, in the middle a v-neck tee and weekender pants, and on the right another crop tank. I love how I can wear their clothing both for exercise and when out and about.

Does Woolly Clothing offer discounts?

Be sure to check out their "sale" section of their shop, as they almost always have great deals available!

Are all of Woolly's products 100% merino wool & plastic free?

Many of Woolly's apparel items are 100% merino wool. If this is something that's important to you just make sure to check before buying! Some of their products, such as their leggings, include a small amount of elastane for stretch (typically 5% or less). Personally, this doesn't bother me. I'm aiming for more natural fabrics and less plastic, but not perfection.

Are there any "cons" to Woolly Clothing?

The only true "con" I can think of is the cost. Not everyone can afford to buy merino wool clothing! But given the quality and how long the clothing lasts, Woolly really does offer fair pricing. Personally I'm trying to make my closet more minimal—including less clothing that's higher quality.

Not sure if this is considered a "downside", but I'd love to see Woolly offer padded sports bras and swimsuits. It's almost impossible to find those made with natural fabrics!

In Conclusion

Woolly Clothing Co is one of the very best merino wool shops to support. They really do care about their product quality and their customers experience. I'd highly recommend their products, especially to people that are very active and travel a lot!
